Modern Expat Magazine covers life in Phuket and Thailand for expats, founders, remote workers, families and people planning a move. Our job is to make the site useful, readable and grounded in reality, not padded with vague advice or empty authority.
What We Publish
We publish reported news, practical guides, interviews, first-person pieces, opinion and community coverage. Some pieces are highly current, such as visa or infrastructure updates. Others are slower guides that we revisit as rules, prices or on-the-ground conditions change.
How We Source Information
We use a mix of first-hand experience, interviews, public documents, official websites and clearly attributed third-party reporting. When a topic is time-sensitive, especially visas, healthcare rules, taxes or regulation, we aim to point readers back to the relevant official source or explain where a rule still needs to be confirmed.
We do not invent quotes, sources, statistics or credentials. If a point is based on direct experience or informed opinion rather than formal reporting, we try to make that obvious in the wording.
Guides And Updates
Many Modern Expat guides are living pages. When a material part of a guide changes, such as a visa rule, pricing range or healthcare detail, we update the page and refresh the article's updated date where appropriate. A page being useful matters more than a page pretending it never changes.
Voice And Style
We use natural British English and a direct editorial tone. That means clear sentences, practical detail and writing that still sounds human. We avoid keyword stuffing, fake neutrality and generic filler written to satisfy an algorithm instead of a reader.
Sponsored Work And Commercial Relationships
Modern Expat Magazine works with commercial partners across advertising, sponsorship, media and creative services. If a piece is sponsored or materially supported by a brand, we aim to label that clearly. Commercial work does not automatically guarantee positive editorial coverage elsewhere on the site.
Corrections
If we get something materially wrong, we correct it. If you spot an error, use the contact page or read the corrections policy for the fastest route.
AI And Editorial Responsibility
We do not treat AI output as a substitute for reporting, sourcing or real editorial judgement. No article should rely on fabricated quotes, fake dates, invented people or unsupported claims. Final responsibility for published content sits with Modern Expat Magazine.
